Let me flaunt the books I’ve managed to find this month. You probably won’t care about half of these and the other half will probably be a toss up of pure jealousy or mocking superiority. So on the off chance I can make you cry with envy…..read it and weep.

With Keys to the Demon Prison I now only need book 4 to complete the Fablehaven series. I’ve been meaning to add the amazing Percy Jackson series to my shelves so finding the first three books was something I couldn’t pass up. I think someone had recommended the Bartimaeus Trilogy to me so I picked up the first one, but since they actually had all three I didn’t want to risk not finding them again. The Roar, Windhaven, and Water Keep all just sounded good. Lastly, I’d read Red Thunder before and I really want to re-read it.

As for the odd one out, The Total Outdoorsman Manual. There are several excuses I employed to explain why I had to have it. First, I like to think I could be more outdoorsie if I knew what I was doing. Slight guilt that I’m not outdoorsie give who our father is. A handy resource for my own writing. As a potential gift for said father, or you, or our brother. In the end I invoke Sanderson’s Zeroth Law: Always err on the side of awesome.

Embedded sounds really intense so I couldn’t help myself. You recommended His Majesty’s Dragon so when it popped up I thought I might as well get it. The Name of the Wind has been recommended numerous times and is high on my to-read list.

I think the biggest find is the “advanced reader edition” of Leven Thumps. I know, I still haven’t even read commercial edition but I just love the idea of collecting these rare versions of books. Now that I have the ARC, I guess I’ll just have to read it.

Brand New

My preorder for Dragonwatch arrived. The original order was through Amazon but a deal through Deseret Books convinced us to switch. It didn’t arrive on release day but we got all five Fablehaven audiobooks for free. However really wanted to get the review out quick so I also bought the eBook…..because reasons.

Lisa has finally started reading Mistborn. We found Hero of Ages, so we were just missing the second one…..which is the one she needs to read next so we just bought Well of Ascension brand new. Now to convince her to do a guest reply and reviews on them.

Giveaways

Holy crap, I won something! I’ve heard rumblings from people about Goodreads giveaways, so I’m not going to get overly hyped about it until it’s in my hands. On the other hand I’m more than a little surprised as I only just started entering giveaways this month.

The book is The Fallen Gatekeepers by C. R. Fladmark (The Gatekeeper’s Son #2) and because it’s the second book I was concerned that I would need to go and buy the first. However, a little link on the Goodreads page popped up with a download link so it’s all good. I’ll need to get around to reading these soon though. More on that when it arrives though.
