So Julia surprised me this week with going to Fantastic Beasts. You haven’t mentioned seeing it so I’ll take First!

Spoilers…..probably.

I’m going to separate things into pros and cons because some things were really fun and others just don’t make sense.

Pros:

• It is SO nice to be back in the world in Harry Potter
• There are some really cool effects, magic is active and doing things
• Newt is a really interesting character
• I NEED a Niffler
• Character casting was really well done

Cons:

• The movie uses the Harry Potter movie rules for magic and history which is inconsistent.
• NoMag it is dumb way of saying muggles
• My wife wants a Niffler
• Obscurus/Obscurial… is it a dementor? why does it look like a dementor? Also why have we never heard about this at all before? Yeah, they makes sense sorta, but it catches me off guard a little when I’ve been learning about this universe for the last 15 years and no one has ever mentioned this? Also, it is a fundamental thing. If this is what happens to all muggle-borns who do not get training and pure-bloods have been not wanting to train them. It makes sense why so many people are against that kind of thinking, they would effectively be sentencing untrain muggle-borns to kill innocents and then die.

Yeah it was a very interesting movie. I hope you have a chance to see it soon.
