Dreamer (Short Story) – By Brandon Sanderson

Hey Jared,

Thanks to you and the Sanderson HumbleBundle I was able to read this little short story. It’s classic Sanderson……but also disturbingly not.

dreamerTitle: Dreamer
Author: Brandon Sanderson
Genre: Fantasy, Horror
Audience: Adult
ROTS Setting: EU (expanded universe), Magic, Modern,
Synopsis: In this horror story, a body-hopping game of cat-and-mouse between the entity known as Dreamer and his target is bound to leave tragedy in its wake.
Recommendation: Intended for adult readers. WARNING: Some Sanderson fans may find this story disturbing when compared to his usual work.

It’s said to be in the horror genre and I get that……but it’s basically Sanderson with a very dark, disturbing twist. And I loved it! I’ve really been enjoying how Mr. Sanderson has explores his limits and we get to see the magical results.

Really this story is best read for yourself. Odds are you will love or hate it. Not much in between.

I would also like to add that I feel this could easily take place in the Reckoner Universe. Snapshot and Dreamer have very similar covers. I’m assuming the artwork is by the same author and the font is the same for both.

Anyway, expect more of Sanderson’s work to be reviewed now that so much of his work is sitting on my phone waiting to be read.

Robert
