Yet another short novella by Sanderson. He probably wrote it while putting off Alcatraz 4: Dark Talent. It was very short. This will also be very short. Like you could read it over a decent bowel movement short.
Title: Perfect State
Series: Cosmere
Author: Brandon Sanderson
Genre: Sci-Fi
Audience: Teen
ROTS Setting: Advanced Tech, Cosmere
Synopsis: God-Emperor Kairominas has conquered and unified the whole world with his amazing magic. He loves his people, although he has changed how the minds of his favorite servants work. But that is to be expected. His “rival” provides a welcome distraction challenging Kairominas to duel against robots. Now he faces the biggest challenge ever. Finding a woman.
Recommendation: Teens would find this funny. Also as another book in the Cosmere they might as well get started reading and learning, because unless Sanderson stops writing they will have a lot more to read in this universe.
Honestly, there isn’t a whole lot to say. It is well put together and it is a great setting. But it feels unfinished. It really it so short it could almost be a prologue or maybe chapter 1. You have just enough time to learn who the players are, some motives, understand the universe (or this part of it at least) and then it’s over. I actually won’t even say any more about this because there is so little to talk about I don’t want to spoil anything.
Just read it. It is worth the 53 minutes it takes to read it. Don’t buy it and don’t even take it home from the library. Just stand in the isle of the library or the bookstore and read it.
On the other hand, I know you are really interested in doing some advance reading, or beta reading. I would recommend this book to new or up and coming authors if any are reading this. As an introduction to a setting and character, this is perfect. Write something like this and give it away so people can decide if they like you without having to buy something. It would be a crime to ask someone to buy something so small. It is like buying one Hershey’s Kiss, one pretzel, or a thimble of eggnog. Also, this size of writing would be a great gift for Christmas. Not to mention it gives your Mom something to share with everyone she knows. If you would like an honest review of your work, check out our page that talks about sending us stuff to read.

Ummm…Jared? This isn’t set in Cosmere. http://coppermind.net/wiki/Perfect_State
And you say you like to read!

Sorry, I assumed ALL of Sanderson’s works where part of the Cosmere. That is really actually kinda disappointing, I was hoping to hear more about this setting in the future.

A thimbleful of eggnog? Now THAT is a travesty. A wassail bowl is about the right size I believe 😀
