Greetings Jared,
I forgot how iconic most of the first few books in the series are. So many things happen, but I suppose it would need to given how short they are.
Title: The Predator
Series: Animorphs; Book 5
Author: K. A. Applegate
Genre: Science Fiction
Audience: Youth
ROTS Setting: CU, Modern, Aliens
Synopsis: Marco never wanted to be an Animorph. He never wanted the ability to change into any animal he touches. He just wants to chill. Whatever happens, happens.
Recommendation: Highly recommend this series.
SPOILER WARNING: This review assumes you’ve read up-to book 4.
This is Marco’s first POV book in the series. I don’t generally like him as a character. I get why he’s in the group and he adds an important dynamic, but I’m just not a fan of him. Marco has lacked a firm reason or drive to be an Animorph and actually has several very good reasons not to…….until now. The plot is actually pretty mediocre, but the implications are way more significant.
One of the best parts of the book is that it’s the first full book now that Ax has joined the group. He is just hilarious and innocent and awesome.
Additionally, we get the infamous Ant Incident. It is a recurring and disturbing experience that will haunt the group for the rest of their lives.
