It’s been a while since I’ve done a proper Reply post. I suppose I’ll should get used to it especial when it comes to Sanderson. (I know you’ve been working on Way of Kings, the tome that it is.)
Title: The Bands of Mourning Series: Wax and Wayne Series; Book 3 Author: Brandon Sanderson Genre: Fantasy Audience: Adult ROTS Setting: Cosmere, Magic, Industrial Tech Synopsis:The Bands of Mourning are the mythical metal minds owned by the Lord Ruler, said to grant anyone who wears them the powers that the Lord Ruler had at his command. Hardly anyone thinks they really exist. A kandra researcher has returned to Elendel with images that seem to depict the Bands, as well as writings in a language that no one can read. Waxillium Ladrian is recruited to travel south to the city of New Seran to investigate. Along the way he discovers hints that point to the true goals of his uncle Edwarn and the shadowy organization known as The Set. Recommendation: This book (& series) is highly recommended!
Things have been crazy, and I’d taken a step back from reading these past couple of weeks assuming that I’d scheduled everything as I should and I discover now that I hadn’t. And we all know what happens when you assume.
Title: Warbreaker Series: Warbreaker (Cosmere Universe) Author: Brandon Sanderson Genre: Fantasy Audience: Adult ROTS Setting: Unique Universe, Cosmere, Magic, Medieval, Synopsis: Sisters Vivenna and Siri are princesses of Idris. Susebron is the God King one must marry. Lightsong is the reluctant minor god of bravery. Vasher is an immortal still trying to undo mistakes of centuries before. Magic from individual breath from everyday objects can perform all manner of miracles and mischief. Recommendation: Highly recommended.
So I have read all the books prior to this in the series but I didn’t have the time to re-read all of them before this one called to me from the audiobook library and made me listen.
Title: Bands of Mourning Series: Wax and Wayne Series; Book 3 Author: Brandon Sanderson Genre: Fantasy Audience: Adult ROTS Setting: Cosmere, Magic Synopsis: It’s six months after the end of Shadows of Self and Wax is getting married. Recommendation: Good book for adults or late teens. Not my favorite Mistborn novel but talked more about the Cosmere which is slowly fascinating me more and more while also driving me insane.
So over my last long drive, I listened to Arcanum Unbounded: The Cosmere Collection by Brandon Sanderson. All in all, as a bit of a Sanderson Fanboy I love the whole thing. Some of the stories are more worthwhile than others but if you follow along I’ll point out the best ones.
Thanks to you and the Sanderson HumbleBundle I was able to read this little short story. It’s classic Sanderson……but also disturbingly not.
Title: Dreamer Author: Brandon Sanderson Genre: Fantasy, Horror Audience: Adult ROTS Setting: EU (expanded universe), Magic, Modern, Synopsis: In this horror story, a body-hopping game of cat-and-mouse between the entity known as Dreamer and his target is bound to leave tragedy in its wake. Recommendation: Intended for adult readers. WARNING: Some Sanderson fans may find this story disturbing when compared to his usual work.
I was wondering if I’d be posting a review of this before you and it appears that I am. Now to get Bands of Mourning done and then on to the Stormlight Archive. It’s my goal to read the first two books before the third is published this Fall.
Title: Shadows of Self Series: Mistborn; Wax and Wayne Series; Book 2 Author: Brandon Sanderson Genre: Fantasy Audience: Adult ROTS Setting: UU/Cosmere, Early Industrial, Unique Magic, Steampunk/Western Synopsis: This bustling, optimistic, but still shaky society now faces its first instance of terrorism, crimes intended to stir up labor strife and religious conflict. Wax and Wayne, assisted by the lovely, brilliant Marasi, must unravel the conspiracy before civil strife stops Scadrial’s progress in its tracks. Recommendation: Adult or late teen. This book is highly recommended. However I do suggest reading the Mistborn Trilogy first, but that technically isn’t required.
