RED RISING – BOOK 1: RED RISING – BY PIERCE BROWN

Hello Robert,

Red Rising is a book I heard about quite awhile ago from another person who works in the same industry as me and recommended it.

Title: Red Risingred_rising
Series: Red Rising Trilogy; Book 1
Author: Pierce Brown
Genre: Fantasy, Sci-fi
Audience: Adult
ROTS Setting: Alternate Future,
Synopsis: The people have earth have expanded and terraforming the solar system. Humanity has become segregated by color into the Society. Golds rule the Society which is built upon the backs of the Reds.
Recommendation: I really enjoyed this book, I love a good underdog story and this has it. This is definitely a book for adults it has some brutal violence that would be inappropriate for younger audiences. For more details read the rest of this review.

Epic Failure – Book 1: Mechanical Failure – By Joe Zieja

Jared

Thanksgiving is coming up quick. This year we’re home and going to try and create some of our own traditions. Ya, we’re slacking on that part because it’s never been a big part of our lives. Really it’s about the memories, so we’re going to make an effort this year.

Planetfall – by Emma Newman

Jared,

How was your Halloween? Ours was great. We had a Trunk-n-Treat on the 29th and then Halloween night we went to a nearby neighborhood that we went to last year…..They give out full size chocolate bars.

Planetfall.jpgTitle: Planetfall
Author: Emma Newman
Genre: Science Fiction
Audience: Adult
ROTS Setting: CU, Near-to-Distant Future, Cerebral
Synopsis: Ren traveled millions of miles on faith alone. A faith that was based on a person. Now twenty years later and utterly faithless, she must confront the truths she hides and the lies she uses to perpetuate it.
Recommendation: For adults. Also this isn’t a space opera or action adventure and more cerebral. I definitely recommend this book.

The Dagger and the Coin – Book 2: The King’s Blood – By Daniel Abraham

Hey Jared,

This is quickly becoming one of my favorite series. Bigger and better than Game of Thrones in a lot of ways. I just love the world and the tone and…..everything really. Sure there are things I don’t like but they don’t detract from the experience.

Author: Daniel Abraham
Genre: Fantasy
Audience: Adult
ROTS Setting: UU, Medieval, Dragons (Extinct), Magic

Dawson sees the approaching storm and moves to end it before it can begin. Geder finds himself with untold power and little idea how to use it. Clara tries vainly to keep her family together and safe.
Recommendation: Adult, but mid to late teen could probably read it too. Highly recommended!
