Assassin’s Apprentice – Farseer Trilogy – By Robin Hobb

Hey Robert,

You know me I love audio books. I read/listened to this over a week long sales trip.

Title: Assasin’s Apprenticethe-assassins-apprentice
Series: Farseer Trilogy; Book 1
Author: Robin Hobb
Genre: Fantasy
Audience: Adult
ROTS Setting: UU,
Synopsis: This is the story of a young bastard of the heir prince. The story of his life at Buck Keep from about 6 years old to 16, his teachers and tutors.
Recommendation: Teen would probably like this. But there really isn’t any harsh content. Although B**** is used quite a bit but in its meaning of female dog. As usual, I really enjoy this book. I really enjoy almost all books and stories. I think I really just like the act of reading and listening to stories. But this is considered to be a great series and almost even a classic. Hunter Series – Book 2: Elite – By Mercedes Lackey

Hi Robert,
After we both read book 1 of the Hunter Series I hope my review of book 2 helps us decide if the series is worth it.

Title: Elite28450969
Series: Hunter #2
Author: Mercedes Lackey
Genre: Fantasy, Sci-fi, Dystopian
Audience: Teen
ROTS Setting: Alternate Future
Synopsis: Elite Hunter Joy is quite happy hunting and working with other Elite. Sadly it doesn’t last for long. On a secret assignment from her uncle, she uncovers a conspiracy. The who seemed to be so much more of a threat in APEX than on the mountain of her home increase in activity and the safety of the people can no longer be guaranteed.
Recommendation: There are a lot more fight scenes and big ones. So I like it better than the first book. It is definitely a teen dystopian book.

MARKED SPOILERS WILL FOLLOW

Robert,

“Good. I can feel your anger. I am defenseless. Take your weapon! Strike me down with all your hatred, and your journey towards the dark side will be complete!” -Emperor Palpatine

Perfect State – By Brandon Sanderson

Yet another short novella by Sanderson. He probably wrote it while putting off Alcatraz 4: Dark Talent. It was very short.  This will also be very short. Like you could read it over a decent bowel movement short.

25188109Title: Perfect State
Series: Cosmere
Author: Brandon Sanderson
Genre: Sci-Fi
Audience: Teen
ROTS Setting: Advanced Tech, Cosmere
Synopsis: God-Emperor Kairominas has conquered and unified the whole world with his amazing magic. He loves his people, although he has changed how the minds of his favorite servants work. But that is to be expected. His “rival” provides a welcome distraction challenging Kairominas to duel against robots. Now he faces the biggest challenge ever. Finding a woman.
Recommendation: Teens would find this funny. Also as another book in the Cosmere they might as well get started reading and learning, because unless Sanderson stops writing they will have a lot more to read in this universe.

Temeraire Series – Book 1: His Majesty’s Dragon – By Naomi Novik

Hello Robert,

Oddly this is a book I have read somewhat recently, just 2 years ago. Most of the books I reread have the better part of a decade between reads. I have told you about this series before and it is amazing, but you never read it. So now I’ll detail why this is such a fun series, to make you jealous that I read it first.

{4731D36F-EF04-4ADD-A3C9-0CC14D81D0A9}Img100Title: His Majesty’s Dragon
Series: Temeraire Series; Book 1
Author: Naomi Novik
Genre: Alternate History/Fantasy
Audience:Young Adult/Adult
ROTS Setting: Alternate History early 1800s
Synopsis: Captain Lawrence captures a French vessel and finds a dragon egg on board, and it’s ready to hatch. Three weeks away from land Captain Lawrence is left with no choice but to try and harness the hatchling to tame it. But when the young dragonet chooses his master the captain’s life is changed forever.
Recommendation: I honestly love this series. I would recommend this for teens or adults. A beautiful mix of nautical, historical, and dragons. For me this got me very interested in the time period. Also from a genealogical stand point learning who our ancestors were and where they lived during the late 18th early 19th century.

Audience: Adult
ROTS Setting: Alternate Future,
Synopsis: The people have earth have expanded and terraforming the solar system. Humanity has become segregated by color into the Society. Golds rule the Society which is built upon the backs of the Reds.
